Unitarians are known for their tailor-made services, which include baptisms, weddings and funerals. We are focused on the baby being the blessed, the couple being married, and the deceased being honoured. Because of this, our rites of passage are often very personal, and tailor-made between the minister and those involved in the ceremony.

Baptisms

Whether you use the term Baptism, Christening or Naming, we are able to provide a service that honours the birth and life for your young one. Parents work with the minister to create a service that reflects their beliefs and hopes for their child.

Please contact our minister the Rev’d Cody Coyne at [email protected] for more details.

Weddings

Just like our spirituality, Unitarian weddings and civil partnerships are extremely diverse and deeply personal to the couple making the commitment.

There is no set liturgy, and every part of the service can be chosen by the couple with the minister’s help. We believe that when two people are making this kind of commitment to each other, they need to be able to make it freely and honestly, without having their words chosen for them by someone else.

Unitarians welcome people of all faiths and none to their services, and the same can be said for weddings and civil partnerships. If you have different faiths, or you feel that services offered by your own faith are unable to accommodate your own beliefs and commitments, then perhaps a Unitarian ceremony is for you.

Cross Street Chapel is also registered to hold same-sex weddings. In fact, we were the first religious building in the country to be registered when the law allowed us to conduct same-sex civil partnerships!

Please contact our minister the Rev’d Cody Coyne at [email protected] for more details.

Funerals

Unitarians celebrate the unique gifts and character each person holds, and so our funerals are a chance to truly honour the departed.

The family and bereaved can work with our minister to best reflect their needs and the life of the individual who has died. We have worked with a number of funeral services, and work to accommodate different worship requests, such as music, readings, or graveside services.
